Prior to joining Stratos, LLC, Jim Darr worked for Shell Oil Company and then Equilon Enterprises for 27 years. His experience during those years included six years as a Journeyman Boilermaker-Welder; two years as a Pressure Vessel Inspector; and two years as a routine maintenance multi-craft foreman in various process units. Jim has extensive experience in turnarounds as a project foreman, field planner, systems coordinator, and turnaround supervisor. Jim served as Manager of Turnarounds at the Wood River Refining Company where he was responsible for supervising all phases of turnaround activity at the refinery.

Jim’s experience also includes performing peer reviews, audits, and readiness reviews, and in some instances, participation in the actual execution of turnaround activity. Jim also served as a member of a cross-functional team chartered to optimize the Shell Oil/Chemical overall turnaround process and participated on a team of turnaround management representatives to optimize and enhance turnaround activity.

Jim is also experienced in other facets of maintenance including serving as overall administrative contractor coordinator dealing with all refinery maintenance contractors and serving as the contractor’s advocate.

Jim Darr received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Fontbonne College, Clayton, Missouri. Jim was active in the Council of Owners and Construction Associates and served on their membership committee and was a presenter at the N.P.R.A. first Turnaround Panel in 1999.
